Postby crofty » 26 Dec 2004, 12:45

I saw a Avalon A201 for sale on eBay,in the auction the seller states that
production of the gold series guitars will move to Korea shortly.

Hi

AFAIK, Gold Series production isn't moving to Korea, but will be moving to a European facility shortly. Here's what Steve said about it in another thread:

We have begun to draw down Gold Series production here in Ireland as we intend to transfer production to a new facility next year - more about this in the news section later! We're almost at the 1000 serial number for Irish made Gold's - I guess #1000 will be the symbolic final one whenever we reach that milestone!

So, if you want an Irish-made Gold Series - one of a thousand ever made - get one while you can!! :D

Does that mean that all Golds currently on the market are Irish made? I just bought an A-200CE but haven't taken delivery on it...it should be made in Ireland shouldn't it? (Ebony f/b, gold tuners, Rosewood matched back, etc...)

Thanks Colin. Just out of curiosity, what does this guitar retail for? It's brand new and has the hard case and all...any ideas? I got it below retail, so I'm wondering how good of a deal I got.
