Strings ....d'addarios vs newtones

Anyone had a chance to compare these 2 brands of strings? I have used the newtones on a previous owned guitar, and they were my favorites. I nver had a chance to use the d'addarios, just elixers. I really did not like those. I know that my avalon will arrive with d'addarios but just wanted to know how the newtone sound might differ. I usually tune down 1 whole step,use dadgad, and occasionally use standard tuning. I play alot of Joni Mitchell stuff, so that could require any number of different tunings as Joni is the master of altered tunings!!
