Anyone using cedar top for worship or like setting?

Hi. Just wonderingi f anyone is using a cedar toppped avalon in a worship or similiar live with a band setting?? Any problems cutting through the mix or being heard? I have seen people do it with no problem on their Taylor 514's (cedar/mahagony). I am refering more to a cedar/rosewood combo like the L-25?

Cedar/Rosewood I have no experience of, however my Cedar/Mahogany L O10 cuts ok - it's a banjo killer at bluegrass sessions!

A band setting you say? Are you talking about purely acoustic or a mic'ed/DI'ed situation. If you mean a setup where you're using sound reinforcement then tonewood choice will come a distant second to how you amplify your Avalon and the frequencies that your band mates occupy.

Yes, I am using a avalon A201c in our church band. It has a cedar top, and rosewood back and sides. I play through a DI, and it sounds great. In fact, I find it alot nicer sounding than my spruce/rosewood guitar. It has a much nicer midrange, and the highs are super crisp. The low end is not as powerful as my spruce top, but the whole balanced tone is much nicer. We play at a fairly low sound level..about 95 db. There is a whole band, with focus on the guitars, and I have an awesome lead player who like all lead players, loves to be heard. So yes, the cedar cuts through it all, as they seem to follow me fine, and I can hear it easily. I will also note that i have the fishman transducer/mic combo onboard my guitar..
