Broken bracing

Postby johnblack » 22 Aug 2006, 11:37

I dont know how it happened but the bracing under the sound board of my guitar has cracked, off the hole near the rod that goes up the neck (not to down with my technical terms), was a) wondering what a possible cause could be b) the best way of fixing the guitar as i'm worried the crack in the wood will grow. My plan is to take the strings of and clamp the crack together sealing it with glue, if this is a very bad idea let me know any advice type of glue?
p.s. Its a AS201, and i have also noticed that its alot lighter that my friends AS201 why is this? so many questions so little time

Hi John, yes I'll give as much help as possible once I see the problem.

In general, most parts of an acoustic can be fixed with good quality wood glue and the right clamping method / pressure.
