JB Truss Rod

Postby Towzer » 06 Jun 2006, 19:54

Hi JB

Just curious as to how tha actual truss rod works

Not that I will be touching it but I am just inquisitive

My A100 has a double truss rod. Is one above the other?
What is their function besides adding neck strength?

When using the allen key is there a method of which way you adjust?
Clockwise does? Counter clockwise does?

IS there any specific degree that the neck should be in order to acheive the maximum tone??
Thanks in advance

Hi Towser,

Your guitar has a bi-flex (2-way) truss-rod.

Turning it clockwise will straighten the neck.
Anti-clockwise will make the neck more concave.

We use Gotoh truss rods, these are made from steel not aluminium so they are very strong and add rigidity to the neck.

You should never adjust the neck unless absolutely necessary and only for adjusting the relief on the neck for correct string height ... not tone.

The tone can be affected by increasing the saddle height, thus increasing the break angle of the string, this is better and more effective than messing with the truss-rod.
