JB- action ?

Postby Towzer » 27 May 2006, 00:06

Hi JB

After putting in the new saddle you sent me my string height on the 12th fret is 2.2 on the treble E and 3 on the bass E??
I believe both of these heights are high
Should i try and sand down the tusq saddle??

Or is it a neck adjustment I need??

Thanks, Towzer

Hi Towser .... string height ... just what is the correct height ?

One the most common questions and the correct answer is .... the right string height is the one you feel comfortable with.

Guitars that leave our workshops normally have an average string height of 2.4 on the bass and 1.8 on treble.

Now, that is way to LOW for me .... I prefer the tone and response from a higher action and I don't have weak, girly fingers so I set my action to 3.4 bass and 2.6 treble  :D no I ain't kidding.
This height always me get a more cutting strong tone.

Ok ... this action won't appeal to everyone but it just proves the point that the correct action is the one you feel comfortable with.
