Avalon on stage

Postby chris c » 16 May 2006, 09:16

Played my Avalon Jacques Stotzem Sig for the first time on a "real" stage. Solo fingerstyle pieces before a mic, not with the built-in Fishman blender (not because it's no good, but the stage was set up with a quality mic and I mostly play seated anyway).
I got many compliments afterwards about the excellent sound it produced - some people were astonished by the excellent projection and the balanced, singing voice of the guitar :P . Got many questions about the brand - which I gladly answered of course.
Another very valuable aspect from a player's point of view is that it stays in tune ! Very reliable.
I really look forward to the next occasion to go out with my buddy !
I'm sure other players have had similar experiences with their Avalon on stage...

Thanks John. Yes, it was a great experience and this model definitely is an outstanding performing instrument, acoustically or amplified.
I remember a workshop with Jacques Stotzem where he teached swing-style guitar : 15 students were heavily strumming a chord sequence on their guitars while he happily played a single-string solo over it (unamplified) that was still clearly audible above all the rest... that was on his Avalon of course... :?
