A32C Hybrid review

Postby RB » 07 May 2006, 17:27

Hello folks

Here is my attempt to review my new A32C Hybrid Avalon guitar.

This guitar is a combination of a Gold Series neck and Premier Series Indian Rosewood cutaway body.

Back and sides Indian Rosewood
Sound board. Alaskan Sitka Spruce
Neck Mahogany
Fingerboard Ebony
Bridge Indian Rosewood
Bindings Sycamore
Rosette Rosewood - Sycamore - Mahogany
Nut slit saddle Bone

The build and finish is perfect, all you would expect from a quality handmade instrument (and it’s mine)!! The set-up was spot on for my style of playing, mostly finger-style.

The sound is a wonderful blend of bass, treble and midrange tones, giving a full sound and great sustain, whilst retaining separation of tone and giving good clarity.

There is much pleasure I think in owning a handmade quality guitar like this. Each guitar is unique, and given character by the builder, the quality of the build gives you confidence to use it fully. Time spent playing and practising with this guitar I am sure will be rewarding. The guitar can do it! and so it’s down to me to be a good partner in this duo.

Congrats on your new guitar, Ron, and thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's nice to read reviews like this on the forum. What you mention of the registers blending while retaining note separation is one of the main reasons why I chose an Avalon too. And to think it will only improve with age... :P
Did you custom order this model ? Was there a particular reason for choosing a Gold series neck instead of the Legacy's ?
