A100c has arrived -

Postby Towzer » 24 Apr 2006, 19:07

Hi folks
Ok it finally arrived today
Was excited

Took it out of the case and low and behold the whole guitar is totally out of tune
No bother, so I tuned it up and low and behold again, there is buzzing on the lower frets. Major buzzing even when picked very lightly
What have they done??? I think someone went a little nutty on the trussrod for the action but just cant believe it got to me so out of wack

So pissed off as the dealer in the USA convinced me to have it "professionally" set up by them
Now its at my local guitar shop........................

FOlks this is what the dealer said when I told him how it arrived

[b]We detune for safety. When you tune it back up & let the strings “pullâ€

Just my 2 peneth...

My guitar arrived almost perfectly in tune with no adverse affects. Having read the care leaflet I see it's recommended you carry your guitar in a vehicles cabin as it would get too cold in the boot but the remedy for a guitar that had suffered from being too cold is just to let it warm up again for a while! :)

I'm sure your guitar will sound ace in no time! :) (It must be very annoying having had to wait for it to be delivered though...)

sorry to hear that Towser, here at the factory we only de-tune about a half a turn when senting guitars by air, we've always found that sufficient, never had any problems.

i sure hope everything settles down real quick

JB thanks
ok took it up the road and the guys at the store couldnt put the guitar down
they loved it

It has settled down a bit but still very slight buzzing on 2 frets
I will give it a couple more days to settle as its been in transit for 4 days and also its a 2004 new model that has been sitting around so I guess it needs to open up a bit

JB does the guitar have a truss rod and if so how do I access it
I couldnt see one

Secondly I noticed that one of the black tuners ( i think they are made of a hard composite rubber) has a straight line crack on it running sideways
Now should I go back to dealer is US for this??
By the way i filled out the warranty and sent today
Thanks in advance

yup there sure is truss-rod ... a bi-flex one to be precise, you can get to it from behind the main cross strut.

no worries about the button, i can send you one, just forward me your full postal address in and e-mail or pm .... sorted :D

cheers

Tks JB

Here is my address

edit: got it thanks

The guitar is sounding better already
There is still minimal buzzing on the first 2,3 frets but not as bad as what it was 8 hrs ago
I will give it another few days to see if it corrects itself
If not maybe its a trussrod adjustment . I have to remember to that per your email to me on the serial number it is a July 04 New model so I am sure that some things may have shifted over the last 20 months of it not being played

JB on the headstock where it says A for Avalon there looks to be a slight bubble or airpocket in there
I think I may have to live with that though
