Hello folks

My new irish made guitar will arrive tomorrow
Cant wait to play it

IS there any reason that the Avalons dont have any pickguards installed??

Just thinking how long it will take to scratch up the beautiful spruce finish and do you recommend installing a good one like a "greven"

Thanks

Normally all guitars go with a scratchplate fitted, it's the clear type, hard to see in photos.

Sometimes dealers ask us not to fit them to guitars :? their decision but I prefer them to be fitted.

Hey Towzer,

It is hard to wait isn't it? I don't know where you live, but my clock says you were up after midnight thinking about this. Made me laugh...you have to go to bed man!
Now, when I look at my Avalon I am so very happy there is NOT a pickguard. It gives it a touch of class...a difference...somewhat (hold on here I have to go get a dictionary) "renaissance"....Hmmm...did the Irish ever participate in such things???? Tell us what you think when you get it!

I prefer the look of no pickguard, but have a clear one on my A101CE.
It's very much a good blend with the wood, and not objectionable at all.

Congrats on that new guitar!
