I should have it by the end of next week hopefully.
I have been playing a Lowden O25c from 2002 and had no complaints about that guitar.
But I am also in the process of commissioning a guitar from a luthier here in the US. That guitar is getting more expensive by the day, so I thought I would sell my Lowden, replace it with something less expensive, and put the difference towards the handbuilt.
My wife has been really cool about this whole handbuilt thing, so I thought it would be a nice gesture on my part to do this. Plus, now I have the 4 basic tonewoods covered cedar/mahogany with the Avalon, and spruce/rosewood with the OM I'm getting built.
I immediately thought of that A101 I had played in the past and thought they were a LOT of guitar for the money.
I have had a chance to play an Avalon A101 before and was very impressed with the sound and fit and finish, and playability. Also, the understated aesthetic of this model is appealing to me.
I'm getting it from Robb's music in Colorado - make sure you guys give them a pat on the back, they were very easy to deal with, friendly, and even took and emailed me some photos yesterday on very short notice.
I'm going to be putting a K&K Pure Western Mini in this guitar.
