Hi JB
I will be up in Belfast at the Worship Belfast conference from 19-21 Jan. 2 years ago at this confererence Avalon had a stand there with about 7 or 8 guitars. Do you plan on having a stand this year too. If so do you know which models you will have on display? I would really love to demo the above 3 models side by side and compare with my Martin HD-28 as i am in the market to buy a new top end guitar and these models seem to be in and around what i am looking for i.e. warm punchy bass with strong mid range and clear thick trebles.

Dear Gilly,

Please do not expect any Avalon to sound like a Martin. Trying out a few guitars would be a great idea, it would be like choosing between "oranges and apples" (an old idiom). I believe that you will find a uniqueness that sets Avalons apart from most other brands. They usually have a very even response, with great clarity, although certain tonal characteristics can be emphasized/de-emphasized based on wood choice and body dimensions.

Martin HD28s are usually great guitars, but tend to be a bit more bassy than the Avalons I've played. Try them out if you can, you'll fall in love I'm sure!

Blessings,

Did you get to try any of these Gilly?

If you did I'd love to hear your experiences.

I'm very happy with my L25C, and the reason I bought it is because it was so different from the Martin dread that I had custom-ordered. It is a D-42 and I'm picking it up in Pennsylvania in 5 weeks! I can't wait.

Obviously I did not have a chance to compare the two guitars yet, but you can guarantee that the difference in body shapes, bracing and tone woods will make sure they don't sound similar.
