Hi Dweezil

I thought the 32s were rosewood back and sides - don't tell me that is rosewood!!!

Whatever it is, it is absolutely spectacular! Sounds like the boys are definitely back in town!! :D

Yup, Indian rosewood is what it is. They have a large stock of gorgeous rosewoods and some 'premiere' sets, this being one of them. There is a charge for opting for the premiere stuff but once I saw it I had to do it. The top will be some yummy alpine spruce. I'm opting for Schaller Hauser style tuners but the rest is 'standard'. Will post build pics as and when.

Steve has been über helpful, patient and accommodating, a blooming pleasure to deal with. If you're considering to buy a(nother) dream guitar, drop them a line...

The boys are certainly back in town! :P

Guess who just got back today?
Them wild-eyed boys that had been away
Haven't changed, haven't much to say
But man, I still think them cats are crazy

They were asking if you were around
How you was, where you could be found
Told them you were living downtown
Driving all the old men crazy

The boys are back in town!

The classiest, most spectacular book-matched rosewood I have ever seen! 8)

Steve is a real gentleman. I had dealings with him some years back when I bought my Jacques Stotzem Signature, and he was brilliant. Avalon is in very good hands.

Do you happen to know how many of the old luthiers are back working?

Happy Christmas mate - I hope the waiting for the new A32J doesn't take too much out of you!

Happy Xmas! :D :D

What a numpty! In the excitement I almost forgot to have a bevel added, doh! I'm a bevel devotee. Whilst not essential I would say once you've played a guitar with one you realise just how comfy they make playing for long periods of time; something that is very likely with my new A32J.

So I've opted for this bevel style (ignore the fancy inlay, cutaway and other gubbins). The binding was going to be sycamore but now they and the bevel will be ebony

Dweezil, that tree must have had one happy, tranquil life up there in the Alps. :D

Not a ripple of discontent! One well-chilled guitar on the way, I'd say!

Long may you strum!

Strum? Strum? How dare you! I shall do no such thing.

In all seriousness I can hear it's crisp, clear voice now...

Whoops! Sorry Dweez! Didn't mean to go all Tommy Emmanuel on you! Of course, I meant fingerstyle strumming only:

[i][quote]Fingerstyle strumming strokes
Some of the many possible fingerstyle strums include:
A slow upstroke (bass to treble) sweep with the thumb. This is a sforzando or emphatic way of playing a chord.
Light "brushing" strokes with the fingers moving together at a near-perpendicular angle to the strings. Works equally in either direction and can be alternated for a chord tremolo chord effect.
Downstrokes with one finger make a change from the standard upstroke strum.
A "pinch" with the thumb and fingers moving towards each other gives a crisp effect. It is helpful to clearly articulate the topmost and bass note in the chord, as if plucking, before "following through".
Rasgueado: Strumming typically done by bunching all the right hand fingers and then flicking them out in quick succession to get four superimposed strums. The rasgueado or "rolling" strum is particularly characteristic of flamenco.
Turning p-a-m-i tremolo plucking into a series of downstrokes. This is a lighter version of the classic rasgueado, which uses upstrokes.(wikipedia)[/quote

Long may you fingerstyle strum!

 you two!

I suppose 'Long may you strum' sounds a bit better than 'Long may you rasguedo'! I don't think Neil Young could have fittted that rhyme in a song - and he's a pretty mean strummer himself.

But back to the thread, that new guitar is going to be a looker for sure.
