First thing to play?

Postby chas » 29 Oct 2012, 13:10

Ok - so I am eagerly awaiting my new L32C...what was the first riff/song you guys played on your new toys when you got them? Any suggestions on what mine should be?!?

Frivolous answers only... :D

How about "You Sexy Thing (I Believe in Miracles)" by Hot Chocolate, because we didn't dare to hope to see some new Avalons being built?

Less frivolous, the first thing I played on my L32C was 'All Laid Back & Stuff". It was looking for Lowden clips on youtube that I discovered Andy McKee and therefore Avalons, of which, up till then only only vaguely heard. I tried a Lowden O32C a couple of times and liked it and thought , "Why not give an Avalon a go?" I very nearly pulled the trigger on a D300 (about which I still have thoughts...) Reading the dedication to the brand by forumites here, especially Rick Jones on his L32, and JB's advice were highly instrumental (pun intended!) in my taking a punt on a guitar sight unseen.

Hmmm perhaps I should learn to play drifting before they finish mine.... they'd have to build it a lot more slowly though!
