Info on Legacy Premiere Series 340 Quilted Maple

Postby jeff513 » 25 Nov 2005, 05:10

Does anyone have this guitar or have any recommendations. I think it's a beautiful guitar, but how do avalons compare to taylors. I was thinking about the taylor 614ce 2004 limited series quilted maple, but it is about 5,000 us dollars. What is the price of the avalon 340 and are there any more pictures of it that i can see.

Hi there Jeff, well quilted maple really does look and sound the part. I've never compared the 2 side by side but we always get very complimentary reviews on our Legacy range for richness of tone and full bodied sound that we are very proud of.

Here's a picture of a recently finished A340C Premier
*lower detail due to jpg compression*

Pricing - Full US retail is $4450 (full body) and $4950 (cutaway) then add $200 - $300 depending on which pick-up system and remember that these are full retail prices, dealers will always give some discount.

Hi Jeff,
I got to compare a Taylor 615 CE (which is the jumbo quilted maple , more full bodied than the 614) to my Avalon A200C. Side by side the Avalon had a way better more full bodied sound with truer lows and crisper highs and a better balanced tone. Plus the Avalon is a true hand made guitar, unlike the Taylors claim, they are all machine cut assembly line instruments which there are thousands upon thousands on store shelves here in the USA alone. I have also heard the finish is a sprayed on plastic that is dry and boxed in an hour after completion ? My Avalon is serial # 00669, I am sure there are over that many Taylors in California right now. Serial #'s for Taylors are in the millions :? But the choice is yours, we all have are own preference :) For me, mine is definately Avalons :D

God Bless , Steve
