32 series - Which body shape?

Postby apeciv » 25 Sep 2005, 20:02

I'm soon going to buy one of the Legacy 32 series guitars ... but unfortunately i'm having to make this purchase "blind" as there aren't really any local dealers for me!

Soo... I'm looking for a guitar that suits both live and studio environments, and I transition from strumming to picking often as a 'lead worshipper'. I've come to love the combination of Spruce and Rosewood, and so I've decided on the 32 series...

My debate is in the body shape - the S-shape certainly has its benefits live, but will the guitar 'put out' in studio in the same way as a dreadnaught? I'm not a big fan of the jumbo body, so i'd either go dreadnaught or the S-shape.

Anyone have any suggestions from personal experience with these guitars?

Has anyone done any tracking with an S32 and have some input?

While the S32 sounds great, especially when finger-picking you might lose some definition in chords when heavy strumming unplugged. It's always a possibility with small bodied guitars.

The D32 is perfectly suited for the job you describe, the body is big enough for all chords to ring out crisp and clear while strumming and it's got a fantastic balanced sound well suited for the studio.

I'd go for the D32 :D

Thank you very much JB

That's all I needed to hear! I had thought as much, I'll definitely go for the D32...
