Avalon Guitar Serial Number

Postby John Swillum » 15 Apr 2010, 13:56

I have an Avalon A100C with a serial number that reads like this:

22 137

I do believe the actual model is A100CE since the Fishman electronics
are installed.

I'm curious about it's origins...

Also, what is the factory spec for strings for this guitar.

Hi John and welcome :)

Your A100CE is an all solid wood model, hand made for us under licence.
It will originally have had D'Addario EXP16 strings fitted, 12 - 53 gauge.

Cheers
Jim

Thanks for the info...As a matter of protocol, my insurance company has suggested that I might consider insuring this instrument as well as a portion of my electronics in the house....the electronics were easy to place a value on since I have ready access to pricing info.....But this guitar has been just hell to find any data on. Do you have a suggested replacement value for this particular instrument, given that it's in excellent condition?????

You'd be looking at about £1600 to replace it with a similar Irish made model.

Thanks for the quick reply...Would you believe I bought this thing here in the States for $950 cash the day before a music dealer closed for bankruptcy. A clerk saw me standing, gawking at it really, and said to make a offer, so I threw out what I thought was a ridiculously low offer.....and he accepted it....

Lost Serial Number

Postby John Swillum » 21 Sep 2010, 15:15

The serial number tag inside my guitar has come loose and is lost. Should I worry about a replacement. The number was 22 137????

Not really, it's your guitar and you know the serial number, you might even see the serial number on the neck block but I can't remember if Furch stamped the block the same as we do.
