What to buy?? (2)

Hi,

I am new to the site and new to Avalon guitars.
But wondered if anyone could give me some advice.
I have only been playing guitars for 2 years, and currently lead worship for a small home group (about 25 people).

I use a yamaha apx7 (my first guitar), but recently i have found it to be rather quiet.
Anyway, one of our church worship leaders has just got an Avalon and it sounds 'timeless'..it's great I went guitar hunting last week - always find going into guitar shops intimidating - but tried an avalon, martin and a taylor 714CE.

All the guitars were lovely, but the taylor rocked!! I'm sure taylors are great guitars, but Avalons seem unique.

Can anyone recommend an avalon similar to the TAylor 714CE - if there is one at all? Just need something with a thin neck - like the yamaha apx, and not to think a body, but with a lovely rich sound..

Thank you...

My Avalon 200CE, #249, walks all over a Martin D18. The highs are much crisper without losing any of the low tones that Martin are known for. I've only played a Taylor once and was entranced by it. I do think that Avalon guitars are prettier. I know that this sounds inconsequential, and it probably is. Consider this, however, you are making art with this instrument. Your instrument should be more of an artistic expression than being a mere tool.

If your congregation grows you may consider having your praise team become amplified. This is an expensive proposition but you only have to put out the cash once. I have found amping broadens your dynamic ability greatly. It allows you to make a quiet nuances to your music that would otherwise go unheard by anyone other than our Lord. Blessings.

I would think that the A201ce would be comparable to a Taylor 714ce, since it has rosewood back & sides with a cedar top (and a cut away).

I have a A101ce, which has a cedar top & mahogany b&s. I may be putting it up for sale, as my son was just involved in a car accident and we need to get a replacement vehicle.

Hi,
Thank you so much for the replies.
They have really helped. I guess what I need to do is go find some avalon delears and play.

Our worship leader has just got an avalon. I think he got the L320C, or somthing like that. We had around 1200 people at our evening service last sunday, and the guitar did sound rather nice.

I will look out for both the 200CE and the A201ce when i go shopping.
If anyone can reccomend anyother models, that would be fantastic.

More importantly, Bing, so sorry to her about your son's accident. I do hope no-one was injured?
