Master and Premier series

Postby mutley2209 » 26 Mar 2009, 12:08

i've become interested in the L350DB master series and the L370 Koa premier series guitars. how do they sound and compare to the L32? how big of a jump do you see in quality of materials used and quality in sound between the legacy series to the premier, and premeir to the master?

JB? any ideas?

Sound is a very subjective topic and when high grade woods are already used and quality of sound is already exceptional, any so called improvements are less noticeable, therefore Premier and Master series guitars will not always deliver huge audible gains depending on an individual players ear, thus back to the 'sound is subjective' scenario.

Models like the L350DB with it's double bevel are part of our Luthiers Exclusive range, these guitars are an expression of visual design and comfort not normally seen in general guitar building, cost is always an issue for certain unique extras.

One could argue that because the two best soundboard materials 'in general' are Spruce and Cedar why bother with anything else, this again can be subjective but as guitar builders, we will always have a burning desire to create guitars with a mixture of sound, comfort and beauty that make you go WOW !

Glad you like the L350DB ... :D

aye it looks brilliant :D i heard though that certain woods 'open up' and the sound will change becoming even better over time, eventually peaking at a certain point in its life. is that why Koa is such a desirable wood to use? or is it because of its rareraty? i remember seing a limited edition guitar once in a mag, the whole thing was koa , may have been a Lowden not to sure but it was going for £13999 :!:

was trying to gain an understanding of the differances in price vs sound i.e do you get a better sound as well as quality for the extra dosh. no doubt the premier and master series guitars are superb in relation to quality of materials and their build quality, but i wanted to get an idea of their diffreance in sound quality from the cheaper legacy's because i suppose that's what its all about at the end of the day :) . but like you say the player's own ear is a factor, this got me thinking, could you guys at Avalon start a youtube channel showing videos of your guitars so that people considering buying one can get a better idea of how they sound. this would help us all alot and make great viewing, you could become famous JB 8) doubt it would take to long to get some posts up on there, maybe a day of solid video making and guitar playing, it would really raise the profile of Avalon especially if the channel is tagged to channels of people who play them. thanks for the reply JB, it's a broadish question but as ever you step up to the plate and bestow the mightyness of the Avalon Crew upon us 8) , still intreegd though, so without sounding ungrateful MORE MORE MORE info please :). hope you do the youtube thing, i'll be looking forward to it as i scower youtube to try hear the Avalon's play cos i ruddy luv em :D
