Read the signs .... and ye shall know the truth

OK, after a great suggestion from John (greypicker) I'm posting this sticky to help remove some fogginess :D

So where was your Avalon Guitar made ? ..... ok lets start with the Legacy range, since it's the easiest to sort out.

All Legacy models are made in Northern Ireland, yes ALL, no exceptions.

The Gold range are currently made in Northern Ireland but some were built in the Czech Rep.
The N.I. Golds have serial numbers that look like this "A00123" and 99% of them have wood rosettes. (not 100% because some custom models have variations depending on customer preference)
The Czech Golds have Abalone rosettes and a different style serial number.

The Silvers were made in Korea and have serials like "0408123" which when deciphered means 04 (year) 08 (month) 123 (guitar number) ... pretty simple really :)

Important - the only Silvers that were made in N.I. were about 6 left-hand models, we did this to honour a previous order and they were made with laminated back and sides and went to the USA ... and no I won't post the serial numbers here but if you get a leftie Silver contact me and I can confirm it, there'll be a few very fortunate leftie guitarists that have got a hand-made acoustic for silly money :P well done to you.

Will we continue to make Golds in N.I. .... some, depending on requests / special orders.

Hope this helps and thanks John for the suggestion.
Cheers
Jim
