Meet our talented team of luthiers! These are the men responsible for all aspects of design and production in the Avalon workshop in Newtownards, Northern Ireland. As you will discover, their abilities stretch way beyond the excellent acoustic guitars they build – they are constantly experimenting and developing new ideas and making a varied array of instruments from lyres and harps to master classicals and cool archtops!

With over a century between them of accumulated experience of guitar-building the Avalon luthiers share, along with their matchless abilities as individual craftsmen, a true passion for the acoustic guitar. As well as their consummate expertise in designing and making exceptional guitars, many of the Avalon luthiers are accomplished musicians, with the ability to create not only the body of the instrument itself, but also to understand and shape the character of the tone it produces. Unquestionably the development of tonal quality is paramount to our approach to guitar construction and design, coupled with meticulous building methods, the use of superior seasoned tonewoods and our knowledge of the dynamics of sound box design. In this way Avalon luthiers can harness the power and vibrancy of soundbox acoustic dynamics into an ensemble of resonant voices to give the player a rich, expressive and varied tone palette.
